Kiambu County has in the recent past been in the limelight due to the increasing number of cases of women decrying sexual deprivation in their marriages.
In 2016, a group of women from Limuru took to the streets to protest against their husbands’ failure to perform their conjugal rights. The problem was attributed to alcoholism and sale of illicit brews in the county.
Similar protests were witnessed in March 2018 when more than 100 women from Gatundu South staged a four-hour demonstration, where they accused their husbands of being unable to sire children with them.
Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu in his inauguration speech promised to tackle the issue of low libido among men in the county by spearheading the fight against illicit brew and drug abuse.
“I will fight this battle of illicit brew and drug abuse to the end to make sure that joto ya vijana wetu imerudi. People of Nairobi voted for me overwhelmingly in 2013 because I can be trusted and have a track record,” said the county boss.
